Tested at Games scale. Ready for what's next.
Major events are unforgiving. Plans either work under maximum public scrutiny, or they do not. Anna is the only Australian boutique advisory founder who has run communications from inside a Games Communication Centre during a major international sporting event. GC2018 means lessons that translate directly to Brisbane 2032 — procurement timelines, partner alignment, crisis preparedness, 24/7 operations and the politics of host-city visibility.
What we deliver.
Games and major events
Full communications for major international events. Pre-Games planning, crisis preparedness, 24/7 operations, legacy communications. Led from inside the GC2018 Games Communication Centre.
24/7 media operations
Design, set-up and management of around-the-clock press offices for major events. Processes, spokesperson matrices, media holding lines and escalation procedures. Built from scratch and run for GC2018.
Crisis communications and preparedness
Games-time crisis communication systems: messaging hierarchies, spokesperson training and scenario planning. Developed and tested under real Games conditions, not simulations.
Transport and movement communications
Communications for the transport task at major events. This is the most operationally demanding function at any Games. Anna ran all transport communications for a ~$1 billion program and 1M+ spectators at GC2018.
Multi-agency coordination
Running communications across the partnership structures that major events need: government agencies, organising committees, venues, contractors, political players and media. Delivered from inside the Games nerve centre.
Brisbane 2032 advisory
Pre-Games positioning, procurement communications, community engagement strategy and Games-time preparedness for organisations involved in the Brisbane 2032 program. The only Australian boutique advisory founder with direct Games Communication Centre experience.
Selected experience.
Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (~$1B transport program)
TMR representative inside the Games Communication Centre, on a team of communication and media representatives. Responsible for transport media, transport government relations, transport crisis communications and issues management for 1M+ spectators. Sat on the TMR Senior Leadership Team throughout.
24/7 TMR press office — built from scratch
Designed and stood up the around-the-clock press office for TMR during Games-time. Processes, procedures, spokesperson matrix, media holding lines, crisis messaging and media training. From the empty room to a functioning Games-time operation.
'Get Set for the Games' media campaign
Launched the transport-facing media campaign that gained international attention in the lead-up to GC2018. Coordinated messaging across the host-city transport task at scale.
Crisis preparedness for Games-time
Designed crisis communications systems, spokesperson matrices and media holding lines from scratch for Games-time scenarios. Tested under real conditions, not simulations.
Brisbane 2032 (forward engagements)
Pre-Games positioning, procurement communications, community engagement strategy and Games-time preparedness for organisations involved in the Brisbane 2032 program.
For major events & games communications clients.
What does Brisbane 2032 communications counsel actually involve?
Three time horizons: procurement (winning the right packages with the right communications strategy in the bid), pre-Games construction (community and stakeholder engagement through what will be years of disruption) and Games-time readiness (crisis systems, 24/7 operations, partner alignment). Each horizon has different audiences, different risks and different success measures.
How is a Games Communication Centre different from a press office?
A press office serves one organisation. A Games Communication Centre coordinates communications across every partner agency working the Games — government departments, organising committees, venues, security, transport, health, contractors. Anna was inside the GC2018 GCC as the TMR representative on a team of communication and media representatives. The skills transfer to Brisbane 2032 but the scale and partner structure will be different.
Can Evoke support pre-Games and Games-time?
Yes. The strongest results come from organisations that engage Evoke early in procurement and stay engaged through Games-time delivery. Pre-Games is where the systems are built; Games-time is where they get tested.
What's the typical procurement timeline organisations should plan for?
Brisbane 2032 procurement packages are being released progressively across the period leading up to 2032. The earliest sectors — transport, venue construction, host city services — are already in market. Communications strategy needs to be locked in before tender response, not after award.
